What is Digital marketing?
The term digital marketing has been used to refer the promotion of products, services and information via electronic channels. The focus here can be on either a single channel or multiple channels. Most traditional media such as television, radio, newspapers etc., are considered offline channels while the Internet is referred to as an ‘online’ channel. This definition includes all forms of communication delivered electronically such as emails, websites, blogs, social networks, mobile phones, instant messaging, video games among others. It also covers any type of advertising whether it appears in print, television, radio, outdoor space or even at point-of-sale systems like cash registers.
It represents the most important tool for building brand awareness in recent years because they have become so easy to use and cheap to implement. They provide your company with visibility into what you may not know about yourself; how people perceive your business and its values. These tools allow companies to reach out directly to their customers through targeted messages that resonate with them.
Your website should always be the first place where potential clients will look when searching for your product/service. If this is done right then there should never be another need to advertise again. Therefore, although Ad-Based Models Can Be Effective, They Are Limited By What People Will See And How Much They Spend.
In my opinion, Google is still king of the search engine world because they provide tons of useful tools for local businesses. Plus, they often run very inexpensive pay-per-click banner ads. I think Bing Ads is catching up though – they offer cheap PPC too!
As far as SEO goes, I agree that backlinks are important but so is your relevancy in the SERPs…and I know which sites mine get more clicks from 🙂
